Why?

Social connection and belonging is very important in older people and the Friends of HOPE is an opportunity for connection. They are friends and a committed team to deliver high quality fundraising events for the HOPE Foundation. Their contribution to funding our scholarships is so much appreciated - thank you Friends.

The Friends utilise a variety of skills such as organising, flora arranging, hosting amazing afternoon teas, contacts with interesting people, ideas and many more. If you would like to belong, then please fill in this contact form. No one is too youg or too old to make a difference.

You can read write ups of previous Friends of HOPE events. The events range from our recent QuizTime to Movie afternoons to magical nights in Vienna to interesting author talks. Each year their work supports our PhD scholarships.

2025 is a milestone year for the Friends of the Hope Foundation. The Friends have cheerfully supported the aims of the HOPE Foundation by putting the soul, hospitality, networking and fun into the many gatherings they have organised over the years. While fundraising is an aim, spreading the word, supporting younger researchers and demonstrating the benefits of social connection and purpose have also been important.

The first Chair was Joan Mary Longcroft and one of the first events was a reception at Government House hosted by Dame Sylvia Cartwright. Caroline Ward and Karen Andersen Yates have also successfully chaired this group. The Friends are looking for new volunteers - can you help?.
